Shoreline Master Program

As required by the State of Washington, the City of Gig Harbor has updated its shoreline master program (SMP). It was locally adopted by the city council on November 8, 2021 and made effective by the Department of Ecology on January 28, 2022. The SMP is an element of the city’s comprehensive plan and regulates all development and use activity within 200 feet of the shoreline.

The SMP can be viewed and downloaded in full (except for the appendices) here: Gig Harbor Shoreline Master Program (PDF). This page is meant to capture all aspects of the city’s shoreline management program. More information on shoreline management can be found at the Department of Ecology’s website.
